description

The Tulliano Prison, also known as Carcere Mamertino, is the oldest prison in Rome, located for its historical importance in the heart of the city, near the Via Sacra nel Foro.
Overlooking of the Roman Forum, it has been one of the most precious architectural and historical treasures of the capital for more than 3,000 years.
Dating back to the Republican age, it witnessed the incarcerations of the main enemies and traitors of the Roman people, as well as of many illustrious prisoners and important figures linked to the Christian events of Ancient Rome.
The Colosseum, originally known as Amphitheatrum Flavium or simply as Amphitheatrum, is the largest amphitheater in the world, located in the center of the city of Rome.
The Palatine is one of the seven hills of Rome, located between the Velabro and the Roman Forum, and is one of the oldest parts of the city. The site is now a big outdoor museum and can be visited during the day. The Imperial Forums constitute a series of monumental squares built over a century and a half (between B.C. 46 and A.D. 113) in the heart of the city of Rome by the emperors.
The Roman Forum is not part of this site. This is the old Republican square, whose first arrangement dates back to the royal age (6th century B.C.) and which had been for centuries the political, religious and economic center of the city, which had never had a unitary character.
Under Caesar and Augustus, the construction of the Basilica Giulia and the reconstruction of the Basilica Emilia, which delimited the long sides of the square, gave the Forum a certain regularity.
